Still Sick

As the title implies (or rather blatantly states) I am still sick from an apparent stomach virus.  Thus, I am limited to a diet of homemade soup and toast.  However, tonight, I did venture out to some spinach and artichoke dip and a caesar salad from French Market Bistro.  I may regret that soon, but I enjoyed the food while I was eating.

In my state of sickness, I’ve been rather lazy even though it’s against my newfound unlaziness.  I’ve been mostly just reading and watching movies.  The three movies I’ve watched lately have been 12 Monkeys, About Schmidt, and Adaptation.

12 Monkeys is an incredibly weird sci-fi movie.  I typically am not a huge fan of the sci-fi genre, but this particular movie was an exception to my taste.  I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.  I firmly believe that a movie is good and enjoyable if it sticks with me after I watch it.  This one stuck.

About Schmidt was rather boring, but nevertheless a rather true-to-life, bittersweet tale.  This one did not stick though.  It was interesting and somewhat poignant, but not a movie I’d choose to watch again.

Adaptation, however, is a movie I feel that I must watch again.  It was so incredibly well thought out, and, in fact, slightly confusing, that I believe this one will take multiple viewings for me to get the full effect.  I typically enjoy those types of movies – the ones that you get more and more out of each time you watch them.  If a movie makes me think, and I mean really think, then I’m usually happy.

Other than the movies, the book, and dinner, I also went to the Apple store with Good Looking to get him his very first Apple computer.  As a rather avid Apple fan myself, I was more than happy that he has finally entered the world of Macintosh.  Steve Jobs, you’re my hero!

Furthermore, I woke up at 8:30 this morning.  No, that was not a typo.  Let me spell it out just you can get the full effect: I woke up at eight-thirty AM this morning.  I’m not sure how and I’m not sure why, but I certainly feel like my day has been more productive because of it.  Perhaps my own body is helping me to achieve my New Years Resolutions.

And one last thing.  I forgot to mention an 8th New Years Resolution.  I own about 500 movies.  Of those 500 movies, I still have not seen 212 of them.  Thus, my resolution is to watch all the movies I own and have not seen before 2010.  Wish me luck!

Time for a New Year

I know it’s been a while since I posted, and I apologize.  But I hope you’ll cut me some slack given that I’ve been on vacation and haven’t felt like doing much but sleeping.  Truth be told, though, all I ever really feel like doing is sleeping.  Which leads me to my New Years Resolutions:

1. Sleep Less.  I really do sleep A LOT.  And if you don’t believe me, you can ask Good Looking.  He’ll tell you.  So I figure I should probably not take so many naps during the day, and hopefully this resolution will go hand in hand with number 2:

2. Be More Productive.  You see, because I sleep so much, I’m not very productive.  Last semester, I skipped class once or twice simply because I decided that sleeping was more important than class was.  I also forgot about a test once until the morning of.  That was a nightmare.  So in order to help me out with this resolution, I’m going to Borders to buy myself a new calendar made just for college students.  It has neat little stickers for tests and projects and such.  I’m very excited about this.

3. Be More Organized.  I think this one will also help with the second resolution, and it’s one of my New Years’ resolutions every year.  I’m not sure if I ever actually get more organized, but it’s nice to think that I do.  I’m going to be very organized with school, keep strict schedules, and make sure my room is always clean.

4. Be Less Lazy.  Okay so this goes hand in hand with the first three resolutions, so I feel no need to go into great detail.

5. Blog Every Day.  Yeah, right.  We’ll see how this works out for me.  I’m going to try my best though.  Somedays, I may not really have anything to say, so it might be just a line or two, but that’s better than nothing, right?  Well, as far as my New Years Resolution is concerned, it is.  As far as you’re concerned… Well you may not think so.

6. Work Out More.  I promised Good Looking a long time ago that I would work out more so that I can get abs.  I sort of failed at that though.  So this year, I’m turning over a new leaf, and I’m going to actually try to make it happen.  Again, we’ll see…

7. Get Sick Less.  This one may seem slightly strange to some of you.  But for those of you who were at the same New Years party as me last night, you’ll understand exactly what I mean.  You see, I spent most of the night in the bathroom.  But it’s not what you’re thinking… I didn’t even have one sip of alcohol.  I had some sort of 12 hour stomach virus, and it was not at all fun.  But you see, this happens to me every couple of months because I have a very sensitive stomach (thanks to one of my parents, I won’t say which).  I also have a genuine phobia of throwing up.  It’s the third most common fear in the United States, and I got stuck with it.  This means that when I feel nauseated, I have a panic attack and my body begins convulsing.  So I’d like to eliminate all of this by simply not getting sick this year!

As you can tell, I’m going to have a very productive, very busy, and very sleep free and sick free year.  It is going to be hard, but I know that with a little hard work (and maybe some prodding from a couple of people close to me) I can do it.  Why did I type all of my New Years Resolutions on here?  I mean what do you care, right?  Well first of all, I needed to write a blog for today in order to satisfy resolution #5, and second of all, I figured that writing all of them down would help to satisfy resolution #3.

So there you have it.  What are some of your New Years Resolutions?  Remember, you can actually leave comments on posts in order to answer the question.  :)
